Introduction: Anterior cruciate ligament injuries are a common and significant knee injury among athletes. Objective: Describe the hospital discharge rate for ACL sprains and strains during the period 2019-2022 in Chile. Methodology: Observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional study using data from the Department of Health Statistics and Information and the National Statistics Institute. Descriptive analysis of hospital discharge rates for ACL sprains in patients aged 10 and above between 2019-2022 in Chile, by sex, age, and length of hospital stay. Ethics committee evaluation was not required. Results: A total of 7,697 cases were studied, determining an HDR for the period of 12.66 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with higher rates recorded in 2022. Predominance in males and patients aged 20-44 years. The average hospital stay was 1.39 days, with the longest stays in 2019 and among patients over 80 years old. Discussion: Fluctuations in hospital discharge rate during the study period could be attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic, which reduced physical activity. Young men (20-44 years old) were the most affected, likely due to more intense physical activity. Individuals aged 80 and older had longer hospital stays, possibly due to comorbidities and postoperative complications. Conclusion: ACL injuries in Chile follow international patterns, with a predominance among the young male population.
