The impact of humanized care by health students on patient recovery: A literature review in the Latin American context

Abstract

Introduction: Humanized care in health has emerged as an essential pillar in improving the patient experience and recovery, especially in hospital settings where interpersonal relationships can profoundly influence emotional, psychological, and physical well-being. Objective: This qualitative-descriptive literature review aimed to analyze the impact of humanized care provided by health sciences students on patients' perceived recovery in the Latin American context. Methodology: A systematic search was conducted in databases such as SciELO, Google Scholar, and EBSCO, selecting ten studies that met the inclusion criteria. Result: The findings indicate that interactions based on empathy, respect, effective communication, and the active presence of students can significantly contribute to a positive perception of care and the recovery process. However, challenges persist regarding ethical training, the development of interpersonal skills, and clinical environmental conditions. Conclusion: It is concluded that strengthening humanistic training from early stages and promoting spaces for reflection and dialogue with patients are key strategies to consolidate comprehensive care centered on human dignity.
