Abstract

Since ancient times, beauty standards have existed and evolved alongside humanity, shaping a society in which “how you look” has become more important than “who you are.” As a result, various industries—such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and medicine—have joined forces to create a market centered on beauty, often putting people’s lives at risk under the promise of delivering false perfection and fulfillment. This pursuit generates increasing insecurities and unrealistic standards, ultimately diverting the original purpose of these interventions: to enhance self-esteem and promote physical and mental well-being.
