Abstract

Introduction: Pressure ulcer prevention is crucial in training future health professionals, as these lesions represent a significant challenge in the care of immobilized patients. Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes toward pressure ulcer prevention among health students at a university in Lima in 2023. Methodology: A quantitative approach and a non-experimental correlational design were employed, using surveys to collect data. Two questionnaires were applied: the CPUPP-37 for knowledge and the APuP for attitudes, with a sample of 130 undergraduate selected from a total of 195. Results: The results indicated a high positive correlation between knowledge and attitudes (r = 0.838; p < 0.05), reflecting a significant relationship. Discussion: The discussion reveals that, despite the high correlation found, results diverge from other studies which indicated less positive attitudes among students with more practical experience. This highlights the importance of continuous education and reinforcing knowledge to maintain positive attitudes. Conclusion: There is a statistically significant relationship between knowledge and attitudes toward pressure ulcer prevention in this student population.
