Promoción del autocuidado y bienestar en la formación médica. Perspectiva de un estudiante de la Facultad de Medicina CAS-UDD

El burnout tiene alta prevalencia en profesionales médicos y estudiantes. Diversas escuelas de medicina enfatizan la importancia del autocuidado y bienestar. En la Facultad se han implementado iniciativas para promover el autocuidado en estudiantes. Si bien el autocuidado y el bienestar forman parte de las competencias asociadas al profesionalismo médico, no existe un conocimiento cabal de esto por parte de la comunidad académica, no se enseñan ni estimulan adecuadamente en el plan de estudios y muchas veces el equipo docente no es percibido como modelo de las mismas. Todos estos factores se ven influenciados por la cultura médica, prioriza la transferencia de conocimiento técnico y el rendimiento académico. Conclusión: Un cambio en la cultura médica, junto las iniciativas para la promoción autocuidado y el bienestar serán fundamentales para que los alumnos estudien en un ambiente propicio, tengan experiencias académicas más enriquecedoras y mayor adaptabilidad para el desarrollo personal y profesional.
