Abstract
Through a couple of case studies exemplified by photographs of Mapuche, Andean and Fueguino people, a reflection is carried out to understand part of the processes by means of which these images, in their double material/representational meaning and in their condition of visual heritage, have influenced and determined diverse ethnic identities and the construction and establishment of certain imaginaries.
