Introduction: Adjustment Disorder occurs as a response to specific stressful events and manifests itself through severe emotional or behavioral symptoms. Objective: To analyze the hospital discharge rate for adjustment disorder in Chile in 2019-2022, by sex and age. Methodology: Descriptive, observational, and cross-sectional study on hospital discharges for Adjustment Disorder in the period 2019-2022 in Chile by age group and sex (n=3.399). Descriptive statistics were applied using data from the Department of Health Statistics and Information and the National Institute of Statistics. Results: During the period studied, the Hospital Discharge Rate for Adjustment Disorder was 4,84 per 100.000 inhabitants. Females had higher rate with 6,15/100.000 inhabitants, while the Hospital Discharge Rate for males was 3,47. The age group with the highest Hospital Discharge Rate was 10-19 years with 11,90/100.000 inhabitants. Discussion: A decrease in hospitalizations due to Adjustment Disorder was observed in 2019-2022 in Chile, possibly due to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and the saturation of the health system. Women had higher hospitalization rates, possibly influenced by hormonal factors and greater search for help. Adolescents between 10 and 19 years were the most affected age group. Conclusion: Due to the high hospital discharge rate in female patients and adolescents, it is suggested to implement policies in primary health care aimed at these patients.
