Introduction: Acute intestinal ischemia is a cause of acute abdomen that is classified according to the portion of the intestine it is affecting into; acute mesenteric ischemia and ischemic colitis. Objetive: To describe the rate of hospital discharges in Chile between 2019-2021. Metodology: Observational and descriptive study about hospital discharges due to acute intestinal ischemia between 2019-2021 in Chile. Data from the Department of Statistics and Health Information. The hospital discharge rate was calculated. No evaluation by an ethics committee was required. Results: During the period an hospital discharge rate of 2,53/100.000 inhabitants was calculated. The highest hospital discharge rate was 2,77/100.000 inhabitants in 2022. The female sex presented a hospital discharge rate of 2,5/100.000 inhabitants and the male sex 2,66/100.000 inhabitants. The age group with the highest hospital discharge rate was 90 years and older with 20,74/100.000 inhabitants. Discussion: During 2020, there was a decrease in hospital discharge rate compared to other years, coinciding with the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. This decrease is attributed to a decrease in emergency consultations. There was a similar hospital discharge rate in both sexes, in disagreement with the literature. Conclusion: The hospital discharge rate is directly proportional to the patient's age. In the Chilean population it occurs proportionally in both sexes. Studies are needed to compare these results.
