Oral cancer is a malignant neoplasm, commonly of squamous cells, that affects the tongue, gums, and palate tissues. Its risk factors include tobacco, alcohol, HPV, and late diagnosis. In Latin America and Chile, its prevalence and mortality are high, especially among men, although the increase among women is concerning. Therefore, promoting education and prevention for early diagnosis and reduced mortality is urgent.
