Resumen

El diseño salvaje aspira a actuar como marco transformador del diseño en el Antropoceno. Este artículo explora su potencial para sortear las crisis de la modernidad a través de una deconstrucción especulativa de tres estudios de caso concretos. El análisis acerca de casos de movimientos contraculturales que operan al margen de la ley revela valiosas ideas sobre creatividad, adaptabilidad y capacidad de diseño difuso. La esencia del diseño salvaje se ha destilado en cinco principios, con el objetivo de establecer metodologías de diseño. Reclama un compromiso más amplio por parte de los investigadores del diseño para ampliar el discurso y hacer avanzar las prácticas del diseño en el Antropoceno. El diseño salvaje pretende actuar como una práctica redireccional que subvierte la práctica del diseño moderno para permitir su transición hacia la sostenibilidad. Si comprendemos los valores que encarnan las distintas entidades salvajes que responden al colapso de los sistemas tradicionales, podremos entender mejor cómo encarnar los principios del diseño salvaje.

Spyros Bofylatos, Royal College of Art

El Dr. Spyros Bofylatos es Tutor (Investigación) en el Máster de Productos de Diseño. Ha trabajado en varios proyectos de investigación acerca del diseño como agente de cambio. Su investigación gira en torno al diseño para la sostenibilidad, la artesanía, el diseño basado en materiales y la innovación social. Tiene más de una década de experiencia en la enseñanza del diseño y la facilitación creativa, habiendo enseñado en Grecia, India, Alemania, Portugal y el Reino Unido.
