Bioluminiscencia bacteriana y diseño biofílico Un enfoque interdisciplinario para experiencias sensoriales en el bienestar urbano

Resumen

La desconexión con la naturaleza constituye uno de los principales desafíos del habitar urbano contemporáneo, con efectos negativos en la salud emocional y cognitiva.  Este estudio, realizado en el marco de un trabajo de titulación de la carrera de Diseño de la Universidad de Chile, exploró la bioluminiscencia bacteriana como recurso innovador dentro del diseño biofílico, orientado a promover el bienestar emocional en contextos urbanos. Se desarrolló un prototipo experimental basado en el cultivo ético de Photobacterium, diseñado según principios de biomimetismo y biocolaboración. La validación se realizó mediante observación no participante, entrevistas semiestructuradas y encuestas de valoración emocional, complementadas con electroencefalografía (Emotiv Epoc EEG) y escala PrEmo. Los resultados evidenciaron que la interacción con la bioluminiscencia generó respuestas de asombro, fascinación y calma, vinculadas a procesos de contemplación restaurativa, junto con un aumento sostenido en los niveles de atención y relajación. La integración de bioluminiscencia bacteriana en el diseño no solo ofrece una alternativa estética y sostenible, sino también un medio sensorial capaz de mediar vínculos emocionales y simbólicos con la naturaleza. Este trabajo valida, además, la investigación proyectual como una vía legítima para generar nuevo conocimiento publicable bajo los estándares académicos actuales.

Rubén Jacob Dazzarola, Universidad de Chile

Profesor Asociado de la Universidad de Chile, académico en el Departamento de Diseño. Doctor en Diseño y Fabricación de Proyectos Industriales, Máster CAD CAM CIM y Máster en Diseño de Nuevos Productos por la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, España. 

Se ha desempeñado profesionalmente desde 1998 como consultor de Diseño en Chile, Argentina y España, impartiendo docencia universitaria desde 2005. Actualmente es académico e investigador, especializándose en estudio de las relaciones entre el Diseño de productos y servicios con la afectividad, las experiencias y el bienestar, tema en el que cuenta con fondos concursables adjudicados y numerosos artículos y capítulos de libros publicados nacional e internacionalmente. 

Ejerce habitualmente como evaluador de artículos, programas académicos y proyectos para revistas académicas y organismos nacionales e internacionales. Es miembro del comité nacional de acreditación de posgrado, área Arquitectura, Urbanismo y Geografía en la Comisión Nacional de acreditación de Chile.
